Johnson Controls Korea Technology Center achieves “Technology 5 Star” certification from Hyundai-Kia
Supplier recognized for excellence in engineering research and development

Burscheid, Germany – February 23, 2016. Johnson Controls Automotive Korea was awarded the “Technology 5 Star” certification from automaker Hyundai-Kia.

This certification is given to Hyundai-Kia’s top level suppliers. It recognizes Johnson Controls' technology center in Ansan, Korea for achieving the highest level of research and development and taking a leading role in engineering for the global Hyundai-Kia business.

“Being awarded this important recognition from our customer Hyundai-Kia is truly an honor,” said Byunggul Choi, general manager for Johnson Controls Automotive Seating’s Complete Seat group in Korea. “It emphasizes Johnson Controls’ commitment to engineering innovation and partnering with our customers to develop the best solutions.”

The Hyundai-Kia “Technology 5 Star” audit is conducted in order to encourage research and development capability enhancement. When determining award winners, Hyundai-Kia examines the performance of its suppliers in four categories to evaluate research and development capabilities:

  • fundamental engineering
  • engineering competency in product development
  • innovation
  • technical outcome

Johnson Controls distinguished itself from its major Korean and global competitors in every category. In the engineering and engineering competency categories, Johnson Controls was found to fully satisfied the customer's requirements and act in compliance with internal and customer processes.

In the categories for innovation and technical outcome, Johnson Controls’ application of new technologies during production set new quality standards and reduced field claims. In addition, the numerous technical dissertations that Johnson Controls presented at industry-leading conferences were favorably recognized.
